Integrate Orange Money
Sonatel's OM Merchant Payment offer, securing callbacks and the production checklist.
Sonatel publishes the Orange Money APIs on its developer portal. This guide summarises what the portal's public pages say, then lists what you need before production. Provider sheet: Orange Money in the directory.
What Orange Money offers
Sources: QR code payment, Notification and the Orange Sonatel API portal, checked on 28 September 2026.
- OM Merchant Payment: the customer pays by scanning a QR code or through a deeplink in the Max It app.
- OM Cash In: transfers to Orange Money accounts.
- Notification: the merchant sets its callback URLs.
- A free test environment is available (portal FAQ).
- Pricing: not published on the pages we read (the directory sheet leaves it empty). Ask Sonatel.
The flow
- Create an account on the developer portal.
- Create an application to test.
- Submit the administrative documents to go live.
- Your server creates the payment; the customer scans the QR code or follows the Max It deeplink.
- Orange Money calls your callback URL with the result.
What this guide does not reproduce
API paths, authentication, status names and the callback format are in the portal's technical documentation. The public pages we read do not detail them. Without portal access, this guide is not enough to integrate Orange Money.
Securing callbacks
Once you have Orange Money's real statuses, translate them in a single function of your code. Your screens and database handle only your own states.
To secure the callbacks, apply what the Orange Sonatel portal's technical documentation describes, on top of the basics: HTTPS, origin checks, idempotent processing. If Orange Money ever signs its callbacks, the typical check is the canonical code in the Wave guide, adapted to Orange's scheme.
